Here we have ‘The Norton Shakespeare, third edition’, published by W.W. Norton. It is a highly acclaimed and comprehensive literary publication that encompasses the complete works of William Shakespeare.
It is a revered resource for scholars, students, and enthusiasts seeking a deep understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare's plays, sonnets, and poems.
The Norton Shakespeare presents the plays in their historical and textual contexts. The edition provides annotated texts, introductions, and commentaries that shed light on the language, themes, and culture of the world of Shakespeare and his times.
This edition comes with a dust-jacket and a slip-case. It’s bound in a red cloth on very thin paper. Sadly the book is bound in a glued perfect binding and the heaviness and sheer bulk of this book has deformed the spine somewhat, as can be seen in the video.
However, the book opens up extremely well and I do think the print quality is quite good. There’s also not that much bleed through considering the very thin paper used. There’s also over 170 Elizabethan and Jacobean illustrations in this book. It is printed and bound in the US.
